Pastry Brushes - Basting Brush

When it comes to food prep brushes, there is a pastry brush and a basting brush. These brushes are used to spread oil or glaze on food. In roasting meats a basting brush will be used to soak up juices, either prepared (such as sauce or marinade) or the meats own juices, from under pan and spread them on the skin of the animal to crisp the skin. In baking breads and pastries a pastry brush is used to spread a glaze on the crust or surface of the food.
