This steamer pot is the Vollrath brand 68123. It is made so that the three parts of this cooker, the base, perforated section, and the cover, fit tightly together to retain the most amount of steam possible. The holding capacity of this steamer pot is 5 quarts, and it is excellent for cooking pasta, rice, all kinds of vegetables, hard boiled eggs, and fish. This aluminum steamer pot measures 12 inches in height with the cover on, and it measures 9 1/8 inches in height without the cover. When your get your new pasta and vegetable boiler, remove all the labels and stickers and wash it in hot soapy water. You can use WD-40 to remove the label adhesive. Be sure that every time your wash your steamer pot, as well as all your Vollrath cookware, that you wash it by hand. Hand washed pots and pans look better and last longer than cookware that is not washed by hand. Direct contact with salt may cause pitting, so it is a good idea to boil salt in your steamer pot to dissolve it. Also, salt solutions, acidic products like tomatoes, bleaches, and disinfectants can lead to corrosion on your aluminum cookware. Avoid prolonged exposure to these products and never store them in your aluminum steamer pot. Lastly, we recommend that you use plastic, wooden, or rubber utensils when cook with your aluminum boiler to keep it in its excellent shape.
