In 1898 W.A. Van Berkel needed to figure out a way to accommodate his growing meat business. More and more people wanted more meat, so he created a way to adapt to his growing business’ needs; he created the world’s first meat slicer! He soon found that his invention could revolutionize the way the world prepares food. He took his invention from the Netherlands, where he lived, to Canada, Mexico, Europe, and, in 1909, America. It was in America that his invention became a large business that began producing bread slicers, 13 different standard slicer models, food processors, stir-fry cutters, heavy-duty planetary mixers, and vacuum packing models.
